How it all started - with a request from Uchira Village Council. This is not our project but is the project of the Council with funding from V2V. V2V would not commit to running a health facility itself as this is not sustainable in the long-term.
Built entirely by hand, the new health centre (once fully operational) will improve the lives of the poorest people in the village. Built by funds raised by supporters of Village-to-Village, the build has been managed by Uchira Village Council. Now the building is complete the District Council have agreed to equip the centre and provide a qualified doctor. V2V staff are working with the Uchira Village Council to make sure the District Government fulfil their promise. The building has already been used to house patients in a Cholera epidemic and is used for clinic activities
The poorest people in Uchira simply cannot afford to be admitted to hospital, they must suffer at home. The Health Centre will allow them to get free treatment for killer diseases such as malaria.
